Minder Restaurant

If you want to taste Cypriot traditional home-made cooking, Minder Restaurant really is the place to come. Located just outside the city walls, just next to the new Thursday market (perşembe pazarı), this family-run restaurant was started up in 2004 by a charming Cypriot couple who wanted to keep active after their retirement. Now the business has grown, all the family is involved and the restaurant has moved into bigger premises as the word has spread about their authentic lunch-time menus and delicious desserts and pastries.

Minder Restaurant's menus change daily and are made from scratch on the premises. The restaurant is famous for typical Cypriot dishes like stuffed courgette (zucchini) flowers, firin kebabı (lamb slow-cooked until it drops off the bones, cooked with potato), juicy stuffed aubergines (eggplants), the very traditional molohiya, a plant from the jute family, kibris koftesi (ground meat and potato meatballs), grilled chicken with macaroni sprinkled with halloumi and mint, the list goes on and on! The home-made lemonade is wonderfully refreshing on a hot day, lots of tempting desserts and pastries and you can even buy some home-made jams to take home with you. All in all, a culinary experience in a cosy friendly atmosphere and very attractive prices. Highly recommended.
